Microsoft Makes Changes to Diversity and Inclusion Efforts
Microsoft, a tech giant, is changing its approach to diversity and inclusion efforts. The company has decided to discontinue its annual diversity and inclusion report and no longer make reporting on diversity a requirement for employee performance reviews. These changes come after President Donald Trump issued an executive order to eliminate DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives. Microsoft employees are no longer required to focus on security and diversity as core priorities in their performance reviews. This shift was quietly implemented through internal communication, emphasizing simplification and rebranding ‘diversity’ as ‘inclusion.’ Some employees have expressed mixed reactions to these changes, highlighting concerns over the company’s commitment to DEI policies. Microsoft continues to share stories and initiatives through newsletters and employee experiences, but the core focus on diversity is diminishing.
